Strictly necessary
These are essential for the site to work and cannot be switched off. We don't ask for consent to use these, in line with the UK's cookie rules (PECR).

Analytics
These help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular, how people navigate, and where they run into problems — so we can improve it. These are off by default and only load if you accept them.

Note: the cookie names and durations above are set by Google and Microsoft and can change on their end without notice. We keep this list as accurate as we reasonably can, but the analytics providers' own cookie documentation is the definitive source if you need exact detail.
Separately, the underlying analytics data we collect (once you've consented) is retained by the provider for a set period, as explained in our Privacy Notice — currently 14 months for Google Analytics and 12 months for Microsoft Clarity. That's a different setting to the cookie durations listed above, which control how long the cookie itself sits in your browser.
Cookie-free analytics
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics on this site, which does not use cookies or any other tracking technology and does not collect personal data about individual visitors. Because it's cookieless, it doesn't require your consent and runs regardless of your cookie choices.
Changing your mind
You can accept or reject analytics cookies at any time by clicking "Cookie Preferences" in the footer of any page. If you reject analytics cookies after previously accepting them, we stop loading Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity going forward, though this can't retroactively delete data already collected during the period you had consented.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings — see your browser's help pages for instructions, as this varies by browser.
